How do I know the EXPIRATION DATE on my product? 

   GAYELORD HAUSER PRODUCTS:

Swiss Kriss^® has an expiration date which is embossed into the bottom flap of the carton (Swiss Kriss^® Flake) or printed on the bottle neck (Swiss Kriss Tabs).

All of the other GAYELORD HAUSER products are marked with a manufacture date.The following is an example of this marking: 9C06.  The “9” stands for the year 2009; the “C” stands for the month (March; January is represented by “A”, December by “L”).  The last two numbers “06” stand for the day of the month.  Therefore, the code date 9C06 indicates March 6, 2009 and represents the date of manufacture and packaging.

Our marketing experience has shown no problems of spoliage for as long as three-plus years on all GAYELORD HAUSER products (other than through direct physical damage).

    FEARN PRODUCTS:

Fearn NaturFresh Raw Wheat Germ^® is stamped with an expiration date on the back panel of the nitrogen flushed bag.

All of the other FEARN NATURAL FOODS products are marked with a manufacture date.  The following is an example of this marking: 8F23.  The “8” stands for the year 2008; the “F” stands for the month (June; January is represented by “A”, December by “L”).  The last two numbers “23” stand for the day of the month.  Therefore, the code date 8F23 indicates June 23, 2008 and represents the date of manufacture and packaging.

Our marketing experience has shown no problems of spoliage for as long as two-plus years on all FEARN products (other than through direct physical damage).

Why do my SPIKE^® MAGIC! seasonings cake?  All of the ingredients in our Spike^® Magic! seasonings are natural and natural ingredients tend to cake if exposed to any kind of humidity.  This does not alter the product’s taste or potency.

 Which of your products are GLUTEN-FREE?  In our GAYELORD HAUSER line, Spike^® Original Magic!, Spike^® Salt-Free Magic!, Spike^® Hot ‘n Spicy Magic!, Spike^® Vegit Magic!, Spike^® 5 Herb Magic! Spike^® Onion Magic! Spike^® Garlic Magic!, all Spice Garden Spices and Herbs, Brewer’s Yeast and Swiss Kriss in flake and tablet form.  In our FEARN line, Brown Rice Baking Mix, Rice Baking Mix, Rice Flour, Soya Granules, Natural Soya Powder, Soya Protein Isolate, Liquid Lecithin and Lecithin Granules.

Which of the FEARN Soy products are non-GMO?  Non-GMO continues to evolve and, at present, we can confirm that our Soya Granules, Soya Powder, 100% Soya Protein Isolate, Liquid Lecithin and Lecithin Granules are non-GMO. 

Can I use Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic! seasoning if I have Celiac Sprue?  If you are a person who is allergic to wheat or have Celiac Sprue, we do not recommend you use Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic! because it does contain shoyu soy sauce, which is made with wheat.  If in doubt, it’s always good to check with your doctor first to be sure. 

Is the Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein used in Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic made from 100% soy?  Yes. 

Is the soy sauce used in Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic made from 100% soy?    No. The soy sauce we use is a special blend of soybeans, wheat and salt.

What types of salt are used in Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic ?  For Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic!  we use a combination of earth salt and sea salt.  Both the iodine content and the taste are greater in sea salt.  Spike^® Vege-Sal Magic!  is a vegetable coated  salt product.

How long have you been in business?  Our PRODUCTS have been on the market for over 80 years.

Is Gayelord Hauser still living?  No.  Dr. Hauser passed away in December of 1984, at the age of 89.

Are your products irradiated?  No. We do not irradiate our products (irradiation is a treatment of food products with Radioactive Cesium-137 in order to preserve them) and we  never will.

Are any of the SPICE GARDEN SPICES and HERBS products involved

in the sulfating process? No.  None of our Spice Garden^® Spices and Herbs are involved in the sulfating process.  They are all-natural, contain no fillers,  preservatives or artificial colorings and all of them are non-irradiated.

What is the main active ingredient in SWISS KRISS^®?  The main and active ingredient in Swiss Kriss^® is senna.

Is SWISS KRISS^® dependency-forming?  As stated on the bottle, “frequent or prolonged use of laxatives may result in a dependence on laxatives.”  If you are experiencing chronic or prolonged constipation problems, you should consult your physician immediately.

Does SWISS KRISS^® contain mint?  Yes.  Swiss Kriss^® tablets are made with peppermint oil; Swiss Kriss^® flake from is made with peppermint leaves.

What is the potassium/sodium content of your low sodium/low potassium seasonings (Spike^® Vegit Magic! Spike^® Salt-Free Magic! Spike^® Onion Magic! Spike^® 5 Herb Magic! And Spike^® Garlic Magic!)?  Spike^® Vegit Magic! contains15 mg. sodium and 15 mg. potassium per 1/4 tsp. serving size; Spike^® Salt Free Magic! contains 2 mg. sodium and 24 mg. potassium per 1/4 tsp. serving size; Spike^® Onion Magic! contains 10 mg. sodium and 2 mg. potassium per 1/4 tsp. serving size.  Neither Spike^® 5 Herb Magic! nor Spike^® Garlic Magic! contain any potassium or sodium to speak of - Spike^® 5 Herb Magic! is 100% herbs; Spike^® Garlic Magic! is 100% granular garlic.

Are SPICE GARDEN^® SPICES and HERBS oven-dried or air-dried? 

Spice Garden^® Spices and Herbs are air dried, which retains their potency.
